Key Features Comparison: Bluetti AC70 vs. EcoFlow River 2 Pro

Power/Performance – Winner: Bluetti AC70

When we compare two similar solar generators side-by-side, we usually find some differences in battery capacity and power, for instance. However, when we compare the Bluetti AC70 vs. EcoFlow River, we’ve rarely seen two models from different brands with such similar specs. Both the AC70 and the River 2 Pro have a battery capacity of 768Wh. In terms of power, the Bluetti AC70 has a little more to offer with 1000W instead of 800W on the River 2 Pro. On the other hand, the EcoFlow can go slightly higher in surge—but not considerably.

Although the differences in power and capacity specs are very small, our vote goes to the Bluetti AC70 because of the extra 200W of power.

Portability & Design – Winner: EcoFlow River 2 Pro

In this category, it’s a close call as well between the River 2 Pro and the AC70. Let’s start with the design. Both power stations have a similar cubic design and housing. However, the AC70 has a better thought-through design, in our opinion, than the River 2 Pro. Why? Because the River 2 Pro has a handle that sticks out towards the back. This reduces the stackability of the power station a bit. On the AC70, the handle doesn’t stick out and is integrated into the cubic shape of the housing.

Both solar generators have similar sizes, but the Bluetti AC70 is slightly bigger. The biggest difference is the weight. The River 2 Pro weighs more than 4 lbs more compared to the AC70. Because weight is an important factor in terms of portability, we choose the EcoFlow River 2 Pro as the winner here.

Battery Life and Expandability – Winner Bluetti AC70

You might already guess it, but in terms of battery life, both power stations are equal. They offer the same 3000+ cycles until their max capacity reduces to 80%. In terms of expandability, however, the clear winner is the Bluetti AC70. You can use it with an additional battery such as the B80 (806Wh). The EcoFlow River 2 Pro doesn’t offer that option.

Charging Time and Solar Compatibility – Winner: Bluetti AC70

If you charge both the AC70 and River 2 Pro through AC, it will take almost the same amount of time to charge them back up to 100%. So, no significant differences there. On the other hand, if we look at the solar capabilities, we do see a difference. The Bluetti AC70 can handle power from solar panels of up to 500W. On the EcoFlow River 2 Pro, this is only 220W. Hence, charging times through solar panels will take considerably longer with the River 2 Pro compared to the AC70—4.5 hours vs. 2.8 hours respectively (in ideal conditions).

Price and Value for Money – Winner: Bluetti AC70

Both models offer good value for money. The initial retail price of the Bluetti AC70 is a bit higher, but there are often good deals available for this model. This makes the price-to-value ratio better for the Bluetti AC70, as you get more for less money.
