How Did We Test the Bluetti AC180?
We conducted several tests to measure its real-world performance to provide a thorough Bluetti AC180 review. We wanted to ensure this unit lives up to its specifications by powering moderate appliances and heavy loads.
Unboxing and First Impressions
Straight out of the box, the Bluetti AC180 feels rugged and durable. In the box, you’ll find the power station, a solar charging cable, a car charging cable, an AC charging cable, a user manual, and a warranty card.
It is surprisingly compact and light compared to other power stations of this capacity. Weighing around 35.27 lbs (16kg) it is relatively easy to transport.
Bluetti AC180 Review: Test Results
Test 1: AC and DC Usable Capacity
We charged the Bluetti AC180 to 100% and tested the actual usable capacity.
For the AC test we used a 250W heater. It ran down to zero after delivering 1039Wh. This is 90% of its advertised capacity—an impressive result.
For the DC test we used a 125W fan. We got 904Wh, which is only 78% of the advertised capacity. This was a less satisfactory result.
Test 2: Moderate Device Test
We powered an 870W toaster and 800W microwave.
The toaster registered 710W on the Bluetti’s display. After toasting for 2 minutes, the battery level only dropped by 2%.
The microwave also handled cooking a meal for 2 minutes, dropping the battery by 2% from 95% to 93%.
Overall, it handles moderate appliances efficiently.
Test 3: Heavy Device Test
We plugged in an air fryer (1725W) and saw an immediate overload error.
Switching to Power Lifting Mode in the app allowed it to handle the load perfectly. We measured a battery drop of 26% after 10 minutes.
Test 4: Extreme Load Test
We maxed out the Bluetti AC180 by plugging in devices totaling 1800W. It handled this load for 30 minutes without issue.
We pushed it further to 2200W which triggered the safety shutdown. The unit performed well under extreme load.
Test 5: Solar Charging Test
The Bluetti AC180 took about 6.5 hours to fully recharge due to foggy weather using 400W of solar panels.
In ideal conditions, it should take 2.8-3.3 hours with 500W solar input.
