What is the EcoFlow Delta 3?

The EcoFlow Delta 3 is a portable power station designed for budget-conscious users who require a reliable backup power source for home use or light off-grid applications. This power station delivers a balance of affordability, performance, and portability, making it an excellent choice for emergency preparedness, small-scale outdoor activities, or stationary power needs.

The Delta 3 is capable of charging multiple devices simultaneously, which has EcoFlow’s signature rapid charging technology with a rugged design to handle day-to-day power requirements.

Features of the EcoFlow Delta 3

The EcoFlow Delta 3 series is equipped with the latest tech seen in portable power stations or solar generators. Let’s look in to some of its key features:

Power Output

The EcoFlow Delta 3 boasts 1800W continuous power output, which can surge up to 3,000W for devices requiring higher wattage to initiate their electircal motors. This makes it capable of powering essential home appliances like refrigerators, fans, and small power tools. With X-Boost mode turned on you can even power appliances up to 2200W constantly. The X-Boost technology from EcoFlow allows higher power output while lowering the voltage. This mode however should not be used for powering sensitive electronics like laptops or smartphones because the lower voltage could damage these devices.

Battery

The Delta 3 series offer long-lasting power for most day-to-day applications, equipped with a 3rd generation 1024Wh LFP battery. EcoFlow has prioritized longevity by incorporating advanced battery management systems to prevent overcharging and overheating. Check our portable power station calculator to check if 1024Wh would be enough for your power needs.

Ports & Expandability

The power station includes a versatile array of ports, including:

  • 6x AC outlets 1800W Max
  • 2x USB-C ports 140W
  • 2x USB-A ports 36W
  • 1x DC carport 12.6V,10A, 126W Max
  • 2x DC5521 12.6V, 3A

You can expand the capacity of the power station up to 5000Wh with additional batteries. These are the different options:

  • Delta 3 extra battery: adds an extra 1000Wh to you Delta 3 power station. In addition, it’s 1/3 smaller than the extra battery of the Delta 2.
  • Delta Pro 3 extra battery: plug in the additional battery from the Delta Pro 3 and expand your Delta 3 set up with 4000Wh.
  • Smart Generator 3000: for worry free backup you can use the smart generator 3000 with LPG or fuel to simultaneously charge the Delta 3 while powering appliances.

Design & Build

The design of the Delta 3 is a little more up to date but nothing revolutionary compared to its predecessor the Delta 2. A lot of models look quite similar and that is probably because it allows EcoFlow to produce new models without rethinking the whole thing which makes it cost efficient to produce new models. However, we find that this makes it a bit more difficult for a consumer to distinguish different models from different product lines. The grey and matte black casing resists minor impacts and scratches, making it durable enough for indoor and outdoor use. EcoFlow used their new screen on the Delta 3 series which is also seen in their latest models.

Delta 3 plus reviewed

A nice extra feature on the Delta 3 series is are the “storm alerts”. The EcoFlow app that is paired to your Delta 3 will give you an alert when there is a storm approaching in the next hours which gives you a chance to prep and fully juice your Delta 3 in case of an outage.

The most exceptional feature is probably that it makes little noise while power devices. This makes it perfect to use in a tent or in your bedroom.

Portability

The Delta 3 features a robust and compact design, weighing approximately 27.6 pounds. This is definitely not a heavy solar generator which makes it suitable for frequent outdoor adventures besides stationary use. The two handles also make it easy to carry around and it’s stackable as well.

Who is EcoFlow Delta 3 useful for?

The Delta 3 is ideal for users seeking an affordable solution for:

  • Home backup power during shorter outages.
  • Charging laptops, phones, and small appliances.
  • Outdoor use for camping or tailgating.

Unboxing

Out of the box, the EcoFlow Delta 3 comes well-packaged, with protective foam and clear instructions. The unit includes:

  • The Delta 3 or Delta 3 plus power station.
  • An AC charging cable.
  • A car charging cable.
  • DC5521 to DC5525 cable
  • Manual & warranty card

Setup was straightforward, taking less than 5 minutes to get the unit operational.

How did we test?

We subjected the EcoFlow Delta 3 to a series of real-world scenarios to assess its performance. Here’s what we found in the following tests:

  • AC Discharge Test
  • Moderate Load Test
  • Heavy Load Test
  • Extreme Load Test
  • AC Charge Test
  • Solar Charging Test

AC Discharge Test

To test its actual capacity, we connected the Delta 3 to a 250W heater and let it run until the battery was empty. It ran continuously for approximately 9 hours, which means it has an efficiency of 85% compared to the advertised 1024Wh. The other 15% of the battery power is used to power the inverter and fans.

Moderate Load Test

We charged the battery back to 100% and plugged a 800W microwave. We used the microwave for 5 minutes and the remaining battery % showed 88% on the display. The Delta 3 would be able to power the microwave for approximately an hour before running out of power.

Heavy Load Test

We connected a 870W toaster and 800W microwave, which is close to the maximum Wattage of 1800W that the Delta 3 can deliver. While the Delta 3 handled these devices well, the battery depleted in roughly 31 minutes under this high load. There are some similar tests out there which found that there is an overheating issue which switches the power station off automatically before the battery is empty. We did not encounter this issue and the surrounding temperature as well as the current firmware version probably have an impact if this would occur.

Extreme Load Test

Using a 2000W heavy duty power drill, we pushed the Delta 3 over its maximum output. The unit successfully powered the tool for short bursts but tripped the overload protection after 10 seconds of continuous use above 1800W.

AC Charge Test

From 0% to 100%, the Delta 3 charged in just under 55 minutes using a standard wall outlet, showcasing EcoFlow’s fast X-stream charging technology. It’s not that often we see charging speeds in reality actually living up to the advertised promise. Well done EcoFlow!

Solar Charging Test

With a 200W solar panel under clear skies, the Delta 3 fully charged in approximately 6 hours. This makes it a viable option for eco-conscious users or off-grid scenarios.

Pros and Cons

Pros of the EcoFlow Delta 3:

  • Affordable Price: Great value for a 1024Wh power station.
  • Fast AC Charging: Reaches 100% in less than an hour.
  • Solid Build Quality: Durable and light for stationary and outdoor use.
  • Versatile Ports: Supports multiple devices simultaneously.

Cons of the EcoFlow Delta 3:

  • Long power outages: For longer blackouts you would probably need additional batteries and solar panels.

The Delta 3 and Delta 3 plus both have the same battery capacity of 1024Wh. However, the USB ports on the Delta 3 plus can deliver more power. Also charging via solar will be faster on the Delta 3 plus.

A nice extra on the Delta 3 plus is NAS server support and HID communication functions. These are particularly handy if you want a portable power station to power your PC for instance, which will switch on automatically when grid power fails (UPS mode). NAS server support and HID communication functions will prevent data loss when using it with your computer. It will send a prompt to the server when the battery is almost dead to save data before shutting down.

This is what other users have to say:

This was my first time investing in a high-end product like the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus with 220W solar panels, and it has been an excellent experience. It’s lightweight and portable, making it perfect for camping or general use. As someone who works in IT and frequently handles UPS battery backups for servers, I really appreciate the built-in UPS feature—it’s a game-changer.

Compared to my 1800W gas generator, the DELTA 3 Plus is quieter and much easier to handle. The features and options it offers, along with the EcoFlow app for monitoring and control via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, make it super convenient. One of my favorite aspects is the fast AC charging—it went from 27% to 100% in just about 40 minutes, which is impressive.

EcoFlow has earned my trust with its reliable product and the reassurance of a 5-year warranty. I’m really happy with this purchase!
