What is the EcoFlow Delta Pro?

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is one of the flagship portable power stations from EcoFlow. It’s is a portable power station with high-capacity.

It first came out in 2021 via a kickstarter campaign and it crushed the record of the most funded tech projects EVER. With 12 million dollars in just 2 months.

It is a portable power station up for heavy duty. Actually it has all the features to be a serious power back up system for homes. It can power heavy appliances like refrigerators, air conditioners, and more.

However, it’s still transportable which makes it very versatile for many different occasions to use it.

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is for those who have serious power needs.

It features multiple output options, including AC, USB, and DC, with 3600W continuous output and a 7200W surge capacity.

Charging options include solar, AC, and car charging. The Delta Pro uses LFP batteries with a long lifespan up to 6500 cycles to 50% capacity.

Features of the EcoFlow Delta Pro

In our EcoFlow Delta Pro review we’ve picked some key features to discuss:

Battery Capacity and Power Output

The EcoFlow Delta Pro has an impressive battery capacity of 3600Wh. Equally, the AC power output gives 3600W with up to 7200W in surge. With the X-boost mode you can even power an appliance of 4500W.

This makes it suitable for powering multiple high-demand devices simultaneously.

Everything above 3000Wh can be considered as a suitable home power back up solution. We are not talking about using some led lights and phone charges during a one hour blackout.

We are talking about a back up system capable of running most of your household appliances for more than a day.

It also offers expandability with support for up to two additional DELTA Pro Smart Extra Batteries, extending total capacity to almost 11000Wh. Or in combination with one Delta Pro Smart Extra Batteries and a Smart Generator, the total capacity gets even higher with 12500Wh.

You could also pair 2 Delta Pro units with a cable (double voltage hub) as a home back up system and plug it into your breaker panel via a transfer switch. This gives you unparalleled AC output of up to 7200W and 240V to power your entire home.

You can also add additional Delta Pro Smart Extra Batteries / Generators to this setup until you reach a maximum of 25000Wh of energy!

These kind of “whole home backup systems” require an electrician to install but is very easy to install without the need to rewire.

Also important to mention is that these “whole home backup systems” (2 combined Delta Pros or more) could be eligible for a -30% tax credit. This means -$1,439.70 in rebates via the Clean Home Energy Credit for 2 Delta Pros and a Voltage Hub.

Ports and Connectivity

The EcoFlow Delta Pro offers a wide variety of ports. This makes it highly versatile for powering and charging different devices.

It features five AC outlets delivering up to 3600W (7200W surge). Two USB-A ports (12W each), along with two USB-A Fast Charge ports (18W each).

It also includes two USB-C ports supporting up to 100W each for higher power needs.

Additionally, there are car power and DC5521 outputs plus an Anderson port for DC charging.

  • 5 AC outlets: 3600W total, 7200W surge
  • 2 USB-A ports: 5V, 2.4A, 12W max per port
  • 2 USB-A Fast Charge ports: 5V/9V/12V, 18W max per port
  • 2 USB-C ports: 5/9/12/15/20V, 100W max per port
  • Car power output: 12.6V, 10A, 126W max
  • 2 DC5521 ports: 12.6V, 3A, 38W max per port
  • Anderson port: 12.6V, 30A

The Delta Pro supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for remote control and monitoring via the EcoFlow app.

EcoFlow has one of the best apps that we’ve tested.

Battery Lifespan

The battery is a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. The longevity will be better compared to a NMC battery.

The Delta Pro can complete 3500 cycles to 80% capacity, and up to 6,500 cycles to 50%, ensuring a long-lasting power solution for both residential and outdoor use.

Usability

The EcoFlow Delta Pro its usability is how we like it: simple, qualitative and no nonsens.

The intuitive LCD display shows essential information like charge levels, input/output wattage, and estimated run times. It shows just what you need to know.

It’s easy to connect a wide range of devices with a variety of ports including AC, USB-A and USB-C and car output options.

Portability

The Delta Pro is a power beast. The downside is that large batteries also come in large and heavy sizes. It is quite heavy at around 99 lbs (45 kg).

However, it is designed with portability in mind. With its built-in wheels and a telescoping handle, similar to a suitcase, it’s possible to move it around quite easily.

But still, getting it in and out of a trunk for instance, or worse up the stairs will require some muscles.

Its size (25 x 11.2 x 16.4 inches) means it’s bulkier than smaller models, but it’s still transportable for outdoor adventures or off-grid power needs.

Its portability is ideal for those who need large power capacity without sacrificing mobility entirely.

But still the portability is limited.

Who is the EcoFlow Delta Pro useful for?

Home Back Up

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is an excellent solution for home backup power during outages.

It has the capacity to keep essential appliances like refrigerators, lights and medical devices running for extended periods.

With the X-Boost feature you can power devices up to 4500W. This way you can operate high-demand appliances like heaters or washing machines.

You can recharge it off the grid with solar panels. This ensures continuous power even in prolonged outages. Hence, making it a reliable option for emergency preparedness.

RV Camping

The EcoFlow Delta Pro is a good power solution for RV camping. It provides both convenience and reliability for off-grid adventures.

It can easily power everything from kitchen appliances to portable air conditioning units in an RV.

You can bring it along on trips and recharge using solar panels during the day. Or you can recharge the Delta Pro via EV stations around the world in only 1.7 hours.

Another option to recharge the battery is by driving with your car. With the EcoFlow 800W alternator charger you can charge the Delta Pro while driving. Per 1.3 hour drive you recharge 1000Wh.

This makes it perfect for extended camping trips where reliable electricity is needed for comfort and safety.

You can use it in your RV to plug in appliances directly or you can plug it in to your RV and power your RV’s electric system. So no need to go on campsites for electricity.

Professional Use

With 3600Wh capacity and 3600W/7200W surge power, the EcoFlow Delta Pro is highly useful for professional use. In particular for contractors, field technicians, and event planners who need reliable power on the go.

It allows to power heavy-duty tools, equipment, and multiple devices simultaneously.

Thanks to the rugged build and various charging methods (AC, solar, or car) it is versatile for job sites without grid access.

Additionally, the fast charging and mobility features ensure minimal downtime and maximum productivity.

In-Dept Field Testing: EcoFlow Delta Pro Review

How did we test?

We did several tests to measure the real performance of this portable power station. Hence, we can share our experiences and test results to provide a thorough EcoFlow Delta Pro review.

From heavy loads to moderate appliances, we wanted to ensure this unit lives up to its specifications.

Unboxing and First Impressions

ecoflow delta pro review unboxing

When we unbox the EcoFlow Delta Pro we notice its robust build and size. It gives us the impression that it has heavy-duty potential.

Portable power station reviews

Everything in the box is neatly packed and protected. The unit weighs about 99 lbs (45 kg) which makes it quite heavy.

The matte finish and sturdy construction give an impression of durability. The ports are well-organized, with a clear display that provides real-time data on power usage, battery level, and charging status.

portable power station

Overall, the Delta Pro feels like a premium, professional-grade portable power station right out of the box.

AC Discharge Test

We connected a 250W heater tot the EcoFlow Delta Pro to check how efficient it is.

In theory we should get 14.4 hours out of the fully charged battery but real life usage always introduces some inefficiencies. Switching the AC ports on for example will start a slight drainage from the battery.

During the test the Delta Pro kept powering the heater for 13.2 hours. This means the Delta Pro has an efficiency of 93% which is very good.

However, for a unit in this segment and price range we would expect these numbers.

Moderate Device Test

We powered an 870W toaster and 800W microwave.

The toaster registered 710W on the EcoFlow Delta Pro display, and after toasting for 2 minutes, the battery level % did not drop.

The microwave also handled cooking a meal for 2 minutes and the battery level kept on 100%.

Compared to other smaller capacity power station, these appliances only take a small percentage of energy from this high capacity unit.

Heavy Device Test

For the heavy device test we ran a 1725W air fryer to push the EcoFlow Delta Pro’s capacity.

The test lasted for 10 minutes, and during that time, the battery dropped by 9%.

This level of power draw demonstrated that the Delta Pro can handle high-wattage appliances with ease.

The Delta Pro performs reliable even with large power demands. Of course, heavy use like this will reduce available battery capacity more rapidly.

Extreme Load Test

In this test we always push the portable power station to its limit.

We first connected devices like a 1500W space heater and a 2100W hair dryer. The EcoFlow Delta Pro handled the total load of 3600W smoothly.

When we added a 710W toaster, pushing the load beyond its limit, the unit automatically shut off as expected. The 4310W triggered the BMS.

After enabling the X-Boost feature we retested with all devices running simultaneously.

The Delta Pro successfully powered the devices at reduced voltage, demonstrating the effectiveness of X-Boost in handling high-demand scenarios.

Due to the reduced voltage in X-Boost mode it is advisable not use it when your fine electronics are plugged in.

Solar Charging Test

For the solar charging test, we connected a 2x 400W portable solar panels to the EcoFlow Delta Pro.

The unit efficiently captured solar energy and took little less than 5 hours to charge to 100%.

Even on a partly cloudy day, the Delta Pro’s charging performance remained impressive, although it took a bit longer to reach the desired charge level.

Overall, it demonstrated reliable off-grid power capabilities using solar energy.

AC (Fast) Charge Test

We connected the EcoFlow Delta Pro to a standard 120V outlet, utilizing its 1800W max input capability.

The charging speed was impressive, as the unit charged from 0% to full in approximately 2 hours.

The first 20% generally load a bit slower but the screen on the Delta Pro was showing some pretty high incoming Wattages in this range.

This efficient charging performance is a standout feature, ensuring that users can quickly replenish the battery, making it an excellent choice for those needing power on the go or in emergency situations.

Overall, the AC fast charge capability enhances the Delta Pro’s appeal for anyone looking for a reliable portable power solution.

Note that if you have a 240V outlet or a converter the Delta Pro can charge at 3000W input.
